Kevin Paul Smith’s most memorable roles include Jonas (The 1st Guard) in Antigone, Florizel in The Winter’s Tale and Frankie in Leonard Melfi’s Birdbath, which was also performed at an International Theatre Festival in Besancon, France. Other incredible roles are Riff in the epitome of the modern musical West Side Story, Chuck Cranston in Footloose, the screaming, evil Annas in Jesus Christ Superstar and Charles "Tex" Watson in Manson:The Musical!
A triple threat Mr. Smith has been trained by some of the best: Maria Horne,a protégé of method teacher Lee Strasberg, as well as his audition and monologue coach Stephen McKinley Henderson. Kevin is also a trained high tenor working with James V. Deiotte, protégé of Broadway Master Coach Judith Farris, and coaching from Bob Cline. He studies dance at Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway taking classes in ballet, jazz, theatre dance and tap. An accomplished swing dancer from his days in a swing troupe he still loves to jitterbug and throw the girls around. Kevin is also becoming a trained actor-combatant having taken classes with Combat Inc. taught by renowned fight director Ron Piretti (Unarmed), SAFD Regional Director Ray Rodriguez (Broadsword), and now taking Single Sword from Mike Yahn. He holds a BFA in Music Theatre from SUNY at Buffalo.
On camera Kevin can be seen starring as the wise-ass intern in a Manhattan Stories episode entitled “Fun at St. Agnes,” and as the dangerous boyfriend in John Wild’s Caught in the Act. You can also find him as a partying frat boy in the Joey and David webisode Viralcom and as Tony in Joshua Triplett’s recent short film The Change That Death Brings.
A boy scout as a child Kevin learned to love the outdoors and still remembers all his knots and how to find his way out of the woods without a GPS in hand. He enjoys camping in the Blue Ridge Mountains, boating in the Finger Lakes Region and grilling steak and corn on the cob over an open fire while camping in the backcountry. He is an accomplished athlete: playing keeper in soccer, a clutch hitter in baseball, a downhill skier and a competitive poker player. He is a musician playing saxophone, trombone and basic guitar and enjoys all styles of music.
